He came to a heart that was broken,
Afraid, alone and in despair.
When I cried out, oh God, please help me,
He took me by the hand and showed He cared.

He led me each day through the Bible,
Each book that I read He would unfold.
And I wept when I seen how much He loved me,
And that my heart until He came had been cold.

He took all the bitter resentments,
And the hatred that I had dwelt on.
And He gave me a heart that could love now,
And I feel that I must pass this along.

Let me tell you about Jesus,
And how he dwells in my life now every day.
He took away the pain and the sorrow,
Because when He came, He came in to stay.
