God forbid that I should glory,
Save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,
By whom the world is crucified unto me,
And I unto the world.
For I determined not to know,
Anything among you,
Save Jesus Christ and Him crucified,
Jesus Christ, crucified.
How it pains me to watch,
As He cried out in Gethsemane,
Father is it possible to take,
This cup away from me.
Nevertheless not my will,
But thy will be done in me.
And how it grieves me to hear,
Those words he cried on the cross,
My God, my God why hast Thou forsaken me?
When his Father turned his face away from him,
As he bore the wrath of God for my sin.
God forbid that I should glory,
Save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
It was there he paid the highest ransom,
For redemption unto eternal life.
That I and all who will believe,
May be reconciled to God and be set free.
Glory to God the Father,
For his most precious gift,
The death and resurrection of his son,
And the victory at the cross that He has won,
Where He tasted death for every man,
The greatest sacrifice of love, through God's hand.
God forbid that I should glory,
Save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
